Following the Government announcement on Monday, we are delighted to confirm that from 19th July, we will be increasing capacity in the pools, fitness classes and gym and reducing the requirement to book in some key areas.

However, as the infection rate continues to rise, the virus still poses a risk to members, staff and our club.  We will therefore be taking a phased return to normal operations over the coming weeks with the following measures remaining in place:

  • It will be mandatory for staff to wear masks within the club and we would encourage members to do the same to ensure we all remain safe.
  • Some element of booking will remain at key points throughout the day and where there is no booking required staff will have the authority to take action if there is the risk of overcrowding.
  • We continue to encourage members to sanitise hands regularly, take temperature checks and respect that many members will want to continue to follow social distancing
  • Self-isolate if you have symptoms, have tested positive, had contact with someone with COVID-19 or have been told to self-isolate by NHS Track and Trace.
  • We also encourage members to access and use the free, regular, rapid COVID-19 home testing kits.

Only by us all acting with the knowledge that the virus is still a risk to us all, will we work together to keep everyone safe.

The all important changes which will come into effect next week are outlined below:

Tennis, Squash and Racketball
The measures currently in place for tennis, squash and racketball will remain in place, including the requirement to book social tennis.  Guidelines will be reviewed in September.

Gym and Fitness Classes
More of our gym equipment will be relocated to the gym floor and more of the existing equipment brought back into use.  The MyCourts booking system will remain in place and capacity per session will be increased to 20 spaces plus instructors and staff.

We continue to require members to sanitise equipment after use.

Fitness classes will continue to take place on indoor tennis court 7 and cycling classes in the studio on the top floor of the clubhouse.

Class capacity will increase to 30 for non equipment classes on court 7 and 20 in the studio. Aqua Aerobics will be increased to 22 spaces. Classes will continue to be available via Zoom.

Over the summer, the current timetable may be modified slightly each week dependent upon staff holiday and the availability of external cover.  We recommend that you view the classes available on MyCourts.

We will be gathering members’ feedback over the next few weeks and will be launching a new timetable for September, by which time more staff will have been recruited and existing staff trained in various disciplines so that they can support each other more effectively.
