HELP LIFT THE NATION’S SPIRITS THROUGH NATURE AND SONG
Lost in Song, an immersive singing experience project designed to help raise people’s moods, is looking for volunteers to test out a new App before it is targeted, free of charge, to those who are most isolated at home due to COVID-19.
The project is a partnership between Limina Immersive, Ex Cathedra and NHS Arden & GEM CSU and is spearheaded by Edgbaston Priory Club member, Annie O’ Leary, who secured £50,000 from Innovate UK to set up this project.
Throughout history, humans have turned to song as a way of lifting their spirits in times of challenge. Following a serious cycling accident in 2019, Annie found that listening to the music of Ex Cathedra, really helped her live in the moment and not worry about her future. She decided that singing might also help people isolated at home due to Covid-19 and set about working with Ex-Cathedra and Limina Immersive to bring this project to life.
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
The Lost in Song experience is designed to boost mood and wellbeing by inviting you to sing along with Ex-Cathedra whilst immersed in a 360-degree video of the beautiful British countryside and coast. This 360 video experience is designed for internet-connected PCs and laptops (not mobile phones). The video allows you to see all around you, using your keyboard to navigate.
For this trial edition, Ex-Cathedra have recorded four songs: Skye Boat Song; Jerusalem with Blake Reimagined; Stand by me; and Earthrise.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
There are two ways to get involved:
- Anonymously by heading to the website: take part and select the faces that best represent your mood before and after the experience.
- By completing a short survey before your first experience and again after you have experienced all four pieces.
We really hope you are able to take part and find the whole experience beneficial. Annie and her team are looking for as many volunteers as possible to give the team the best possible start to such a fantastic project.
