Edgbaston Priory Club’s Future Olympic Star

Edgbaston Priory Club is very pleased to announce that one of our young members has been selected to represent Team GB in tennis at the Győr 2017 Youth Olympic Festival.

There are 3,000 athletes from 50 European nations aged 14 – 17, who will be competing in the city of Győr in Hungary in July. Team GB’s athletes will be competing in six of ten Olympic Sports: Canoe sprint, cycling, gymnastics, judo, swimming, and tennis.

The European Youth Olympic Festival was developed with the aim to inspire young people to participate in sport and physical activities and has just celebrated its 25th anniversary. These festivals play an important role for young British athletes and help to condition and develop them for larger tournaments and are seen as the ‘gateway to the Olympic games’.

Lillian Mould (15), a student at Priory School, has been a member of the Club since 2011. She is currently a national tennis doubles champion and has recently completed a three-month training program in Spain. Sponsored by Wilson Sporting Goods, she regularly plays for the ITF juniors and other national tournaments.

Lillian will go on to represent our country along with three other players to compete in the tennis games. We wish Lillian the best of luck and look forward to watching and supporting her as she continues to succeed.
