CLUBHOUSE

INTRODUCING THE CLUBHOUSE AT THE EDGBASTON PRIORY CLUB

Our refurbished clubhouse offers lots of spaces for Members to eat and drink, relax, unwind and socialise.

When your game is done, watch a match over a beer in the Bar, join the family for Sunday lunch in the Bistro or take in the evening sun with a chilled glass of white wine on our outdoor patio.

In the morning, the family lounge is the perfect setting to pore over the morning papers with a cup of coffee or enjoy a healthy salad after your workout.  In the afternoon, it’s a great place for children to read, play games or enjoy supper after their tennis, squash or swimming lesson.

You may also hire our function room which can host up to 120 guests for a family or business event and a multimedia conference room for business meetings.

BRIDGE

We have a thriving Bridge Club which meets regularly on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evenings for duplicate sessions.  Tuesdays is for more competitive players and ‘Friendly Thursdays’ is a more relaxed session where you can ask for help.

The Bridge Club play in the Function Room between 1:00pm and 4:00pm on Tuesdays and between 7.15pm and 10pm on Thursdays.  The Club also organise bridge competitions, ladders, charity events, weekends away in the UK and holidays overseas.

New Members are always welcome and sessions are run on a host rota so don’t worry if you have not got a partner. Members’ guests are welcome but they are subject to the Club’s normal terms and conditions for visitors.

WHY PLAY BRIDGE?

Around the world bridge is a very popular pastime. It is often described as a sport for the mind and is certainly a great way to meet other people.

“No matter where I go, I can always make new friends at the bridge table”

Martina Navratilova.

Alongside Martina, Mike Gatting, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and frontman Thom Yorke of Radiohead also love playing bridge and you may even see our own Ann Jones playing at the Club!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN OR IMPROVE YOUR BRIDGE?

There are fortnightly lessons on Tuesday afternoon taught by Peter Nicholds in the meeting room during term time and monthly on Sunday evenings by Adam Fraise in the Function Room.

Crash weekend courses for beginners are also run at various points of the year, where you can learn to play in four 3-hour sessions with other beginners.

MORE INFORMATION

The Club is a member of the English Bridge Union, so Members can earn EBU Master Points on Tuesdays. Bridge Club use electronic scoring and all results are immediately available afterwards HERE!

OTHER CLUBS

Alongside Bridge, we have a monthly book club and Wine Club, both of which are very popular and an ideal way to get to know other members.
