Tennis is for life not just for Wimbledon

No matter your age or ability, if you’ve been inspired by the sheer brilliance on display at SW19 in the last two weeks then come and see what Edgbaston Priory Club has to offer.

Whether you have a racquet gathering dust up in the attic or you have never picked up a racket before in your life – it doesn’t matter. We’ll get you on court serving and volleying in no time at all.

There are courses for children as young as two, including parent and toddler sessions and there are Tennis Express courses for adult beginners which will get you playing matches in six weeks.  If you’re an established player you can improve your technique or learn the finer points of doubles play.   There really is something for everyone.

And here at Edgbaston Priory Club we’re all about making tennis part of your life.

Our courses are complemented by plenty of opportunities to play matches.  The Club provides free social tennis sessions three times a week all year round.  There are lots of club tournaments where the emphasis is very much on having fun and if you’ve got more of a competitive streak inside you then the Club fields over 80 teams in local, regional and national leagues and is always on the lookout for new talent.

All year round facilities

We offer 32 courts, including all the grand slam surfaces, with eight indoor courts, ensuring you can enjoy playing tennis all year round whatever the weather.

There’s no need to be afraid.

Many people who want to play tennis are a little fearful to step onto court but there is no need to be says Leyla Ogan, our racquets manager.

“Stepping out onto a tennis court requires a certain amount of courage.  I call it the 20 second bravery rule.  But once you’ve made it onto the court you won’t look back.  Our coaches are brilliant at making sessions fun and teaching the skills in such a way that people really do feel good about themselves.  And the friends you make on the courses become friends for life.  You may even end up going on holidays together!

“So I would say to anyone who is inspired to play but lacks the confidence ‘Be brave and go for it!”
