Tennis for Adults

Edgbaston Priory Club has plenty to offer all its adult tennis members, from beginners to advanced players.

We offer a tennis coaching programme which caters for all ages and abilities. We have a very comprehensive range of courses and a great team of coaches. We believe we can teach anybody to play, improve, learn to compete and have a lot of fun on the court.

Wednesday: 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Saturday: 9.00am to 10.00am

Aimed at players who have never picked up a racket before and require basic coaching to help get them started. We aim to have all our players serving, rallying and scoring by the end of the course.


Monday: 10.00am to 11.00am and 6.30pm to 7.30pm

Tuesday: 11.30am to 12.30pm

Wednesday: 11.00am to 12.00pm                                                                                                                  

Thursday: 6.30pm to 7.30pm

Aimed at players who are fairly consistent and can sustain short rallies. This course will help with more technical and tactical aspects to help with ball control.


Monday: 9.00am to 10.00am
Wednesday: 1.00pm to 2.00pm
Thursday: 10.00am to 11.00am and 11.00am to 12.00pm and 7.30pm to 8.30pm

Aimed at those who have been playing for some time, may compete regularly and are developing their own game style. This course will help you raise your game by working on your technique and tactics.


Wednesday: 10.00am to 11.00am
 7.30pm to 9.00pm (Outside)

Aimed at good established players who compete regularly. On this course, you will work on technical and tactical skills to improve your game further.

Cardio Tennis

Monday: 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Friday: 10am to 11am

You don’t need to know how to play tennis to take part in this fun tennis-inspired workout! It’s not about slices, back-hands, aces or smashes. It’s all about chasing the ball around the court for an hour, to music, having lots of fun and burning off 600 calories or more in the process. What’s stopping you?

Tennis Express

Monday: 6.30pm – 7.30pm
Friday: 11.00am – 12.00pm
Sunday: 10.00am – 11.00am

Is an active and dynamic introduction for starter adult players and recommended by the ITF as the best way to learn the game.

Tennis Xpress is centred on the use of slower Green balls (25% slower) and Orange balls (50% slower) to ensure that players quickly learn. The aim is to help starter adults to serve, rally and score (play the game) from the first session and to ensure that by the end of the course all adults will know the basic techniques, tactics and the Rules of Tennis. All adults will be able to play competitive points using the Green ball on a full court.


Each week’s session focuses on a different area of the game and you will improve your ability with a mixture of skills training from professional coaches and match play with other women at your level. We provide the courts, rackets and coaches – you get the fun and can be competitive as you want, without feeling under pressure.


Tennis Tuesdays is for women of an improver and intermediate standard. You can hit the ball over the net and in the court and can have a short rally.
