Swimming Pools

We offer heated indoor and outdoor pools that are open all year round, a sauna, steam room and an outdoor spa pool. Swimming is an excellent training tool which can strengthen, tone, and invigorate your entire body.

Swimming Pool Dimensions

Indoor pool; 14.3m by 7m (depth is 1.5 deep-end & 0.9m shallow end)
Outdoor pool; 18.3m by 9m (depth is 2.1m deep-end & 1m shallow end)

SWIMMING LESSONS

The club has an excellent swimming programme for all ages, from babies to adults.

Autumn Term 2016 (14 weeks)

Term starts Monday 5th September 2016 – Sunday 18th December 2016, excluding half-term week 24th-30th October 2016

Winter Term 2017 (12 weeks)

Term starts Monday 9th January 2017 – Sunday 9th April 2017, excluding half-term week 20th-26th February 2017

 

Adult Swimming Programmes

Aqua Aerobics

Monday: 6.15pm to 7pm
Thursday: 9.15am to 10am

A fun 45-minute workout to help increase fitness and flexibility.

Beginners and Improvers

 

Adult Beginners

Tuesday: 9.00-9.30am  /  Thursday 8.00-8.30pm

 

Adult Intermediate

Tuesday: 9.30-10.00am  /  Thursday 8.30-9.00pm

 

Adult Advanced

Thursday 9.00-9.30pm (outdoor pool)

Group sessions or one-to-one coaching for adults who want to learn to swim, or those looking to improve their technique and fitness levels in the pool.

 

JUNIOR SWIMMING LESSONS

Edgbaston Priory Club offers an excellent range of classes from babies through to juniors with all children receiving accredited awards on completion of key skills on the courses.

    Parent and Baby

    Tuesday: 10.00am to 10.30am Thursday: 10.15am to 10.45am

    Aims to introduce babies as young as 12 weeks to swimming and is undertaken with the guardian in the water holding and supporting the baby.

    Parent and Toddler

    Tuesday: 10.30am to 11.00am Thursday: 10.45am to 11.15am

    Again, this class is conducted with the guardian in the water and is aimed at children aged 18 months.

    Beginners in Armbands

    Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 4.00pm – 4.30pm
    Wednesday: 4.00pm-4.30pm and 4.30pm – 5.00pm
    Friday: 4.00pm – 4.30pm and 5.00pm – 5.30pm

    Sunday: 9.30am-10.00am

    The focus is on the development of simple water skills such as submerging and opening the eyes, basic push and glide on both the front and back, kicking, arm actions and floating. They will work towards Ducklings Award levels 1 to 5.

    Beginners

    Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 4.30pm - 5.00pm
    Wednesday: 5.00pm – 5.30pm
    Friday: 4.30pm – 5.00pm

    (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are PLUS groups working on a slightly higher level)

    These classes are designed to further develop swimmer’s confidence and skills with emphasis on developing stroke technique and control in water breathing. Children will work towards Stage 2, Stage 3, Rainbow Distance and Rainbow Stroke Awards

    Improvers
    Monday to Thursday: 5.00pm – 5.30pm
    Wednesday: 5.30pm – 6.00pm
    Friday: 5.30pm – 6.00pm

    The emphasis is on establishing basic stroke technique in front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke. Swimmers are also introduced to the butterfly and further aquatic skills such as underwater swimming, sculling and treading water as well as sitting and standing dives. Children work towards stage 4, stage 5, Rainbow Distance and Rainbow Stroke Awards.

    Advanced

    Monday and Thursday: 5.30pm
    Wednesday: 6.00pm

    At this level, swimmers will be encouraged to develop a more efficient swimming technique. They will also be introduced to techniques for competitive swimming. Children work towards stage 6 and 7 in Rainbow Distance and Rainbow Stroke Awards.

    Junior Swimming Training

    Tuesday: 5.30pm to 6.30pm

    Open to any junior member who has passed the Gold Award.
