Edgbaston Priory Club’s high performance player, Manisha Foster, was in action on her own courts yesterday in round one of qualifying for the Aegon Classic.

Sadly, it wasn’t to be for Manisha who lost 1-6, 2-6 to Maryna Zaneveska of the Ukraine.

Katy Dunne is the only British wildcard to come through her first round match, beating France’s Alize Lim 6(4)-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Dunne, who turned things around after losing the first set said: “Grass is becoming my favourite surface. It’s nice to have the crowd behind me.”

In round two, Dunne will play World  No. 101 Timea Babos who beat Briton, Harriet Dart, 6-3, 6-2 in round one.
