Heart FM’s Ed James picks up tennis tips at the launch of the RLK Edgbaston Priory Open

Heart FM’s Ed James, picked up some top tennis tips from Edgbaston Priory Club’s junior players as he joined them to launch the RLK Edgbaston Priory Open.

The tennis tournament, which will be held at Edgbaston Priory Club from 17th to 22nd August 2014, is sponsored by Birmingham Law firm, Rubric Lois King and attracts young players, of levels and abilities, from across the region.

This year there are titles up for grabs for boys and girls from under-8 to under-18. Alongside the junior events there will also be men’s and women’s singles events.

Christopher Walker-Twigg aged 9 and his brother Alex aged 7 from Harborne, put Ed James and Satish Jakhu, Director of RLK, through their paces on the courts of Edgbaston Priory Club during one of their weekly coaching sessions.

Ed James said “It was great to meet these talented youngsters and their enthusiasm for tennis was infectious. I picked up some great tips on how to improve my forehand but I have a long way to go to meet their standard! I wish all the competitors in the RLK Edgbaston Priory Open the very best of luck.”

This is the second year Rubric Lois King is supporting the Club’s open event. Satish Jakhu explains why they are delighted to continue their involvement:

“We are impressed by the enormous amount of work that is going on both at the club and in the local community to get more youngsters involved in and excited by tennis. We hope our support will encourage more young people to experience the thrill of playing in a tournament and perhaps inspire the next generation of tennis superstars.”

The website – http://www.edgbastonpriory.com/tournaments/open-tournament/ – is now live to take entries for this event which is open to players of all levels and abilities, from those who are displaying good early matchplay skills to aspiring professionals training in high performance centres.
